He came into my life when I was already grown. My mom met him late, long after I had moved out and started building my own life. We met as two adults, navigating life from completely different directions.

And today, when he looks at me and hands me something as simple as a morning coffee or a small gift, it doesn’t feel strange—it feels earned.
